Kurukshetra University was founded in 1956 as a residential unitary University, with the foundation stone being laid by the late Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India. Situated in the sacred city of Kurukshetra, known for the historic battle of ‘Mahabharata’ and the profound teachings of Bhagwad Gita, the campus is located on the western bank of Brahm Sarover (the holy tank) and covers an area of more than 400 acres. Initially established with the Department of Sanskrit, it has evolved into a diverse University offering a wide range of academic disciplines and serving as a leading hub for advanced studies and research in the region.
